Well, I finally made it to the CNE in Toronto. I had been very busy at work all week so I was unable to go for an evening. But I finally got to take Friday off and took my mom for her birthday present to Canada's largest fair.

This year the CNE started 4 days late because of a lot of power problems in this part of North America.

Dopple Looping did not appear this year, I'm not sure why... but that's okay. My mom and I both have the same taste in rides so we spent most of our evening on the Tivoli Orbiter, KMG Afterburner and Moser Gravity Tower. We rode "Drop of Fear" 17 times and 10 of those rides were without geting off, during the fireworks on the waterfront. We had the best view in the whole city!

My mom's favourite ride is the KMG Afterburner "Fireball", I can ride it 2 or 3 times but after that I have to sit a ride or two out and wait for her (she keeps riding). I can't take it too many times, the G force through the bottom is too strong for me S Conklin (the rides owner) runs the Fireball with the gondola rotation fast the entire time... I wish they would slow it down when you do the high swings to feel more weightlessness.

Anyway, here's the pictures... I hope you like them! S

Hi Iain,

fantastic pictures from abroad. A big WOW is in my face.

Thanks for sharing these pictures with us. Now I can understand that it must have been very hard not to go to that place the first weekend.

Several remarks and questions occur:

First of all a delayed Happy Birthday-wish to your mom. What a nice birthday present you had for her! She must have enjoyed her day.

What is the name of the Soriani & Moser Top Star Tour?
Who is who on your pictures?
Are there any sections that are presented under a roof?
What kind of building is to be found? - Is it a remaining part of an exposition that took place at Toronto sometimes back in times?

Is this picture presenting fear, fun or tribute to the sun or a mixture of all of it?

Thanks again for sharing. I will add a german translation to the Fair-section of onride.

Greetings
Thorsten.

I'll try to answer all your questions in order. S

Tejay Thanks for sharing these pictures with us. Now I can understand that it must have been very hard not to go to that place the first weekend.

The ride selection this year was poor compared to last year (or years before that). Doppel Looping was very sadly missed, a lot of people were confused that it wasn't there. The Crazy Flip had damaged one of it's drive motors/gearboxes at the previous fair, so it was also racked on its trailer in the corner.

Tejay What is the name of the Soriani & Moser Top Star Tour?

It's name is "G Force".

Tejay Who is who on your pictures?

Okay, I'll try to make some examples.

Roman (not the best picture but that's what a few G's do to you S)

...and obviously the big dork with the thumbs up is me S

Tejay Are there any sections that are presented under a roof?

Yeah, the only outdoor major thing is the midway, all the exhibits of the CNE are inside many of the buildings on the exhibition grounds. There is a huge food pavilion called "Food Building" (how creative!). There is a big dog show called the Eukanuba Superdogs, lots of things for sale from all over the world, crafts and arts, horses in the horse building, an agriculture exhibit, and other things which I don't really spend much time at. S

Tejay What kind of building is to be found? - Is it a remaining part of an exposition that took place at Toronto sometimes back in times?

They're big exhibition halls which are mainly used just for the CNE. The largest building, the National Trade Centre (which I have an inside picture of) is a huge centre that a lot of industry shows go to every year, I go to about 2 or 3 industry events there a year (like the Canadian Machine Tool Show, National Factory Automation Show, WeldExpo, etc...).

Tejay Is this picture presenting fear, fun or tribute to the sun or a mixture of all of it?

I have to point out that Roman's really not scared, he just did that for the picture. S

I have put together a 2 minute video, I'll upload it when I get home tonight and provide the link here.

Thanks for all your kind coments!

The next CNE is one year away, and I can't plan that far in advance.
