Thanks for the pics, Teejay!

I have a question... in this picture, germancoaster.de moers-04.jpg , what's the girl doing in car 18?! She looks like she's about to get thrown out of the ride! S

I'm a bit scared of the Take Off by HUSS... it looks so fast in all of the videos I've ever seen. What's it like to ride?

Magic Arms was there too, that looks awesome! S

Hi, Iain,

you fast-Top-Scanner S ,

Girl No. 18 is a little bit disorientated. She might have wanted to have a ride backwards, who knows?

Actually she is doing something that is against the law. She changed the regular seating position in a dangerous way. As a matter of fact it is not allowed to ride that way, but it is something that it very common on german fairgrounds: You do something against the law, because it's fun, makes you look more attractive, shows how brave you are and and and...
Something comparable to some kind of mating behaviour among animals. Riding backwards in a Musik Express, or in an almost standing position in a Breakdance ride is very "cool" among certain visitors of fairgrounds.
Maybe it optimizes her chances of getting laid with one of the guys who collect the tickets? Maybe she is just bored?

To me this behaviour is comparable to sleeping with someone unknown without using a condome. It is not right and very much a sign of lacking responsibility to yourself and others.
You see, something I do not like. But at least I'm not 15 anymore.

The operators of these rides try to stop riders mis-using their rides by making announcements or bringing rides to a complete stop. But sometimes it is like upsetting your most loyal customers.

A two sided sword.

The Huss-Take Off is indeed very fast. I think I only did a ride like that once back in 199something.

The Magic Arms is absolutely fabulous to watch. Unfortunately to the showman that is what most visitors to the fair do when they come to the fair. The ride looks extreme and while doing the extensive inverted tour it is an extreme ride.

This brings up another question I was meaning to ask. I have seen some videoclips of Breakdances running, with almost everyone on-board standing completly up. I was really surprsied, because doing anything like that in North America would result in not only the ride stopping immediatley by a watchful operator, but probably being escorted out of the park. Spiting or throwing objects, standing, defeating restraints, are all delt with swiftly and harshly over here... so I was really surprised to see that kind of thing happening.

Is it not a lot of fun? I think when everything rotates the same direction it must be one of the fastest flat rides out there...

Aww... so it's too impressive almost for its own good.

This depends very much on the owner or the person operating the ride.
Sometimes I work for a showman from my area, who operates a Huss Breakdance 3, and he doesn't allow anybody to stand up. People will be asked to sit down once, and if they don't, they have to leave the ride without any discussion. But not everyone acts like that...

I love the Take-Off. When the gondolas and the main disc spin in different directions, it's funny. But when the gondolas start spinning in the same direction as the disc, everybody starts to look like S S
I'd like to ride it more often, but since I'm a bit too large, the restraints hurt my shoulders quite badly S
The Take Off is the most exciting ride "without inversions" I know... I think no other flat ride makes you feel so many G's...
