Some Download-Manager do weird things, which shall improve the speed. Most of this is snake oil or considered to be rude to the server-owner.
One of these techniques are simulatnus downloads with several connections to the same server to bypass per-connection limitations. This of course causes the onride-server to think your downloading it several times.
Your Download-Client should have an option to disable this. Otherwise it's crap.
